The Vice Chancellor, Prof. K. K. Adarkwa has donated sporting equipment valued at One Thousand Three Hundred Ghana Cedis to his “section” at the KNUST Junior High School. The sporting items included a Curtbury table tennis board, a set of football jersey, a set of hose, table tennis vest, two netballs, fifteen table tennis balls, six table tennis bats, four table tennis stands, posts and nets.
Making the donation, the Vice Chancellor noted that sports is an equally important discipline that needs attention, it is as a result that he is donating the equipment to facilitate the development of sports in the school. The Vice Chancellor, advised the students to take their studies seriously in order to become useful citizens in future. He further advised all the final year students to work hard so that they can gain admissions to their first choice schools.
The Head of KNUST Basic Schools, Francis Asare Junior, said the school is very happy because it is the first time the Vice Chancellor is visiting the KNUST Junior High School. Mr. Asare noted that “Sections” have been named after Vice Chancellors in order to remember their good works, and dedication and to celebrate their contributions to the advancement and development of the University.
The Sectional Head for Prof. K.K. Adarkwa section, Miss Abigail Dery, thanked the Vice- Chancellor on behalf of her section and assured the Vice Chancellor that the sporting equipment would be put to good use and would be properly maintained.
Present at the brief ceremony were the Headmistress of the KNUST Junior High School, Mrs. Mary Kyere, the secretary to the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Okrah, staff and students of KNUST Junior High School.
